My last post, on Wednesday, included my general musings on what will happen to my beauty routine now the UK is on lockdown, and a casual promise of a full cruelty free brand list at Sainsbury’s and other popular British supermarkets.

Boy oh boy, I didn’t think that through! I started my research that afternoon (on Sainsbury’s, for no particular reason) and realise what a mammoth task this would be. Sainsbury’s sell so many different brands! I was equally impressed by the range and unimpressed by the lack of cruelty free options, given that all of Sainsbury’s products are Leaping Bunny Certified (I know right).
For now, I’ve covered:
Skincare (including deodorant)
I will add shower gel and hand wash at some point, but there are already over 100 here! I know that sounds crazy, but there is some repetition as quite a few brands appear in more than one category.
A number of brands are listed as ‘unknown’. Under normal circumstances, I would have contacted each of them individually and asked them for more information. However, pretty much every business will be fighting battles at the moment, and for now I decided against contacting their customer service departments with something un-urgent.
Sainsbury's Careers
The final column to the right lets you know if the brand is owned by an animal testing parent company. Some people find this bothersome, others not so much, so I’ve given you this information for you to make an informed decision.
A similar list like this will be published for Tesco next week. (I’m hoping this will be a little easier, due to the repetition!)
