Citrix Web App and API Protection is a cloud-delivered SaaS security solution providing comprehensive security for your monolithic and microservices-based applications and APIs across multi-cloud. It offers protection against application-layer attacks with an integrated web application firewall (WAF), volumetric distributed denial of service. The Citrix Online Web Plug-in for Windows installation package (CitrixOnlinePluginWeb.exe) is designed for easy deployment using a web page or XenApp Web site; it might be installed with or without administrator privileges on an endpoint device.

How to open Xenapp applications using the installed Citrix Workspace client instead of the browser.

If you open a program in Citrix Workspace, and it opens in a browser window instead of using the desktop client, you will need to switch receivers.

There are two options when choosing what 'Receiver' to use:
  1. Desktop client
  2. The light version, which displays the program in your browser
If you are currently using the in-browser version (Option 2 above) and you wish to change to the desktop client:
  1. Go to https://remote.engr.wisc.edu.
  2. In the upper right hand side of the window, select your username, and choose 'Account settings'
  3. In the window that comes up, choose which receiver you would like to use, the first option for the desktop client, the second option for the web-browser-based interface.

4. Once choosing Option 1, following the instructions according to your operating system:

  • In the third-party script file, use any of the following commands (command options are case-sensitive):

    To install only the web plug-in component (with support for Flash and USB)
    CitrixOnlinePluginFull.exe ADDLOCAL=”ICA_Client,Flash,USB”

    To install only the web plug-in component (with support for Flash, USB, and XenDesktop):
    CitrixOnlinePluginFull.exe ADDLOCAL=”ICA_Client,Flash,USB,DeskstopViewer”

    Note: The DesktopViewer component for XenDesktop requires .NET 2.0 to be installed on the workstation prior to installing the web plug-in. If .NET 2.0 is not installed on the computer, users will receive a warning message each time an application is opened.
